Every pilot is screened, current, and insured.
Our volunteer pilots meet Angel Flight West’s own minimums, pass a Wings For Angels screening and test flight before their first mission, attend monthly safety and training seminars, and meet FAA recency-of-experience requirements — not once, but continuously. Every pilot carries at least $1,000,000 in liability coverage, with $100,000 per seat.
Every flight is flown under Part 91.
No compensation changes hands. No pilot is under pressure to complete a flight schedule or meet a deadline that isn’t safe. If weather, mechanical condition, or a pilot’s own judgment says a mission should wait, it waits — no exceptions, no second-guessing.
A Mission Specialist rides in the front seat of every flight.
Every mission carries a trained Mission Specialist alongside the pilot — not just for the passenger’s comfort, though that matters too. The Mission Specialist helps the passenger load and settle in, and is trained to assist the pilot with tasks they’re qualified to handle: changing radio frequencies, scanning for traffic, and serving as a second set of eyes throughout the flight. It’s one more layer between a mission and anything going wrong.
Your information stays where it belongs.
Passenger medical and personal details are handled entirely within Angel Flight West’s own systems. PNW Wings For Angels never stores or has access to that information — our internal records carry only a reference number, nothing more.
No one flies who doesn’t want to be there.
Every mission a pilot flies is one they chose. A pilot uncomfortable with a route, an aircraft’s condition, or the weather that day simply doesn’t fly it — and no mission goes forward until a pilot who’s ready to fly it says yes.
